Wesley Jazz Ensemble |
![]() The Wesley Jazz Ensemble ("WJE") has evolved from the original Wesley Boy Scout Band which was started in 1996 by Wayne Adachi (then Scoutmaster for Troop 201). Over the past 8 years, the band's make up has changed from a variety of instrumentation, initially starting with a few strings to a sousaphone. Currently, the band is comprised of four horns (2 saxes and 2 brass), full rhythm section, and four vocalists. WJE has continued to perform at various community events (i.e., Nikkei Matsuri, Japantown Vibe Festival, Yu-Ai Kai, Sacred Heart Community Center), church-related functions (including Aki Matsuri, Hanging of the Greens, etal..), and senior citizens/nursing centers throughout the San Jose and Mid-Peninsula areas. Most recently, WJE band performed in February 2004 at the Wesley Boy Scout Troop 201's Ten Year Celebration (aka: "Music, Music, Music"); there were approximately 200 people in attendance to celebrate this special occasion. Proceeds from this dance party will go to fund the Troop's activities. WJE's music encompasses
a variety of songs from the swing-era of the 40's, jazz standards,
blues, Latin tunes, rock and roll to today's well-known popular
hits, as we feature solos from all members. Our shows and performances
have included surprise "wanna-be's" and impersonations
of famous singers and vocal groups. |
